Team effectiveness coaching

How we’ll work

It’s easy for teams to slip into bad behavioural habits, particularly in fast moving and challenging environments. A new boss, a squeeze on costs, a team reshuffle can significantly impact a team that has previously been known for its high performance. Without realising, team members can start competing rather than collaborating and quickly lose their sense of trust.

Most of the time, all that is required for a team to get back on track is to take a good look at where they are now, (re)connect with each other and with their team purpose, identify what’s needed of them as leaders and agree some shifts in their individual and collective behaviours that will help them achieve that.

When we work together, we’ll start off by agreeing objectives with the team and key stakeholders - identifying needs, defining success measures and getting an initial sense of the interventions that are required.

Then we’ll conduct a team effectiveness diagnostic and discovery process, helping the team to reflect on its current dynamics, strengths and challenges. Typically, this will involve using diagnostic interviews and questionnaires to surface patterns in behaviour, communication and performance. The data gathered will be anonymised and played back to the team and key stakeholders.

On the basis of this data, we’ll also design the interventions that will help the team shift its behaviours and become more effective. These could include a series of face-to-face team days, leadership coaching sessions, team meeting observations and team leader check-ins.

As we move through the process, we’ll assess the impact of the interventions against the success measure and the initial diagnostic and tweak our approach to ensure it has the desired impact.
